Are you interested in how to use Open Data information published at data.europe.eu? Do you know what kind of Traffic Data is available to be reused in Spain and Czech Republic? If these questions sound interesting for you, here we introduce our LOD-RoadTRan18 Open Data Project and invite you to visit its official web page.
LOD-RoadTRan18 is a CEF Open Data Action (2018-EU-IA-0088) co-funded by CEF Telecom Programme of the European Commission aiming at publishing Traffic Data in data.europe.eu. It was launched in 2019 and has just been completed. This action promotes the re-use of dynamic Road Traffic Data in and across the Czech Republic and Spain.
Under this project, the IRTIC (Research Institute on Robotics and Information and Communications Technologies of the Universitat de València), supported by LMT Group, ESAM Tecnologías S.L. and other participants, implemented and tested some translation tools to convert the traffic data published by DGT (Dirección General de Tráfico) into a new Semantic Model aligned with European Standards. It also created specific interfaces to facilitate queries in a uniform manner and to allow linked search with other open data resources, e.g. related to geolocation. Similar parallel implementation was completed in Czech Republic.
The Linked Open Data can be exploited for public administration or business in different contexts, e.g. to empower solutions for Smart Cities or Internet of Things. It also can be statistically analyzed and used to optimize systems dedicated to the transport of people and goods.
