AS4EDI19: how AS4 APs can support the use of eDelivery to monitor the goods entering the EU

The Commission recently launched ‘ICS2’ (Import Control System 2), an Advance Cargo Information System – which collects data about all goods entering the EU prior to their arrival. ICS2 reuses CEF eDelivery’s AS4 message exchange protocol, allowing each economic operator to select its preferred conformant software product to establish its Access Point, avoiding vendor lock-in and allowing organisations to make the best possible product selection. Find further information about this subject here.

Our project AS4EDI19 – European EDI Providers integrating the AS4 eDelivery, co-funded by the European Commission – HaDEA (CEF Telecom program, Action number 2019-EU-IA-0012), aims at promoting the use of the eDelivery DSI amongst European private and public entities by integrating the AS4 messaging protocol (specifically the eDelivery AS4 Profile) in five, already certified, PEPPOL Access Points (APs) from Sweden, Italy, and Denmark. Hence, it is very relevant to note that the EDI providers of the AS4EDI19 consortium have implemented an operational AS4 AP which is compatible with the AS4 eDelivery Profile adopted by ICS2.
