CEF Provides Grant for Spanish Public Entities in electronic identification

The CEF provides a grant of up to 7.5 million euros for the proposal of electronic identification (eID) (CEF-TC-2018-1). The objective of this instrument is to support the adoption of the eID in the European continent. This grant covers up to 75% of the implementation costs, allowing organizations to adopt the electronic authentication system. The deadline to submit applications is May 15, 2018.

This is the last opportunity for those who wish to apply for the grant for the electronic identification project, before the legal deadline set by Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market (known as the eIDAS Regulation). The results expected from this call must increase the adoption of eIDAS eID, as well as information related to the mandates and authorities.

This is the second project that the European Commission addresses for public entities. The objective of this project is to provide a central solution to all regional and local public authorities in Spain through the use of the European standard in electronic identification for cross-border transactions. This solution shall comply with the requirements established in this Directive and in the eIDAS Regulation, including the associated semantic and syntactic interoperability.

The European Commission, together with the support of the Member States, provides a series of services such as software, documentation, training, and support, which are grouped into the digital services structure of the CEF. Its function is to help public administrations and private service providers to expand the use of their electronic services to citizens of other European countries.
