EURINV project: supporting European companies to meet the legal deadline for the adoption of eInvoicing

From April 18th 2020, all sub-central public institutions need to be able to receive and process invoices electronically, in accordance with the European Directive 2014/55/EU, which established the grounds for a common European standard for electronic invoicing. This legal requirement is expected to provide public bodies with a reduction of invoice processing costs, and an increment of efficiency and cross-border transactions, among other benefits.

The European Commission has been taking different steps towards achieving this compliance and one of those is by promoting projects that actively contribute in the adoption of eInvoicing and the implementation of the European standard around Europe. One of those is the EURINV project, which is co-financed by the European Commission under the CEF Telecom eInvoicing programme, and coordinated by the Spanish “Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV)” with the support of LMT Group. The other members of the project are from Belgium, Finland, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Ireland and Slovakia.

The EURINV project aims at supporting the implementation of the European Standard (EN 16931) mandated by the Directive 2014/55/EU in the eInvoicing cloud platforms of 7 EDI Providers (Billit, OpusCapita, SATA, Enxendra, Calvi, Generix, and Webware) and the uptake of an EN compliant eInvoicing solution by 2 public entities (Dublin Simon Community, and Ekonomická Univerzita v Bratislave). By the end of the project, the participants will be able to adopt and process the valid syntaxes (UBL and CII) on the implemented eInvoicing solutions, becoming aligned with the Directive 2014/55/EU.

By achieving compliance with the Directive 2014/55/EU, the participants of the EURINV project are contributing towards the improvement of cross-border interoperability and embracement of digital transformation across the EU Member states.
