European standard on eInvoicing now available through National Standardization Bodies

February 14th , 2019

The European Committee of Standardisation (CEN) and the European Commission had signed an agreement in the last weeks that would grant free access to the semantic data model and the two mandatory syntaxes of the European standard on eInvoicing. In this way, public and private entities compliance with the Directive 2014/55/EU is facilitated and the technical publications are now available for all stakeholders through their National Standardisation Bodies. It is advised for private operators to contact the respective national authority on standardisation, encouraging the use of the European Standard that will allow them to use the correct eInvoice format that all contracting public entities are using. The deadline for central authorities to comply with the Directive is April the 18th, 2019.

eInvoicing has been mandatory in Spain since 2015, with Law 25/2013 establishing the obligation of electronic invoicing and the creation of the entry registration point through the FACe platform.

EUROFACE project, co-financed by the European Commission, is aimed to provide a central eInvoicing solution for public authorities in Spain, while meeting the requirements of the Directive 2014/55/EU.
