Release of the latest version of the CEF eIDAS-Node software

July 2nd, 2019

The European Commission announced in its latest bulletin (Volume 28) the launch of the new version of the eIDAS node software on June 20th: the CEF eIDAS-Node software version 2.3. This latest version improves the previous version 1.4.5, published last April 11th 2019, and is based on the version 1.1 of the eIDAS technical specifications.

The communication highlights the main updates and changes introduced. The most relevant are the improvement in the registry for a better traceability of messages, migration to Java 8, the increased number of supported Web application servers and the reduction of vulnerabilities.

The version was validated by testing the interoperability with the previous eIDAS node versions, v2.2 and v1.4.5. With each update the CEF eID team seeks to improve the experience and services offered to its customers, based on the feedback and suggestions received of the current version.

The eIDAs network consists of a number of interconnected nodes located in each of the member states, between which flows the information for citizen’s cross-border identification. The EUROLogin project – Cross-border authentication in European cloud platforms according to the eIDAS Regulation (co-financed by the European Commission through its CEF Telecom program2018-EU-IA-0026), in which we are beneficiaries, seeks the connection of the four participants EDI providers to its correspondent national eIDAS node. This will allow the request, transfer and/or reception of European citizen’s identity data sets, complying with the requirements of the eIDAS Regulation. The aim of the project is the stimulation of the cross-border mobility and the strengthening of the Digital Single Market.
